Cryonics for uploaders: Meeting in Second Life, Sunday March 25

A meeting will take place in Second Life on Sunday, March 25, to discuss the recently announced “cryonics for uploaders” breakthrough. Among the participants, Alcor CEO Max More, BPF President Ken Hayworth, and researcher Robert McIntyre.
Other participants include Natasha Vita-More, Robin Hanson, William Sims Bainbridge, and other experts in cryonics and mind uploading.

In the picture, Alcor founders Fred and Linda Chamberlain. Fred, who in the picture wears a t-shirt that says “Mind uploading — the ultimate out of body experience!,” won’t be able to participate in the meeting due to an annoying temporary impediment. Linda will participate with an Alcor crew.
Aldehyde-Stabilized Cryopreservation (ASC) can be seen as next-generation cryonics, but also as an alternative form of “cryonics for uploaders.” In fact, ASC preservation is not meant for future biological revival of the original organic body, but for future non-biological (post-biological) revival as an upload. Ken said:
“Let that sink in… ASC, if properly applied TODAY, could preserve the information content of a human brain for indefinitely-long storage.”
This means that OUR brains could be preserved, with technology available today, for decades (or centuries), until mind uploading technology is operational.
I am especially interested in discussing:
WHEN THE FUCK will this be available to ME?
Friends, I am 60. Please hurry the fuck up.
This meeting will be held in the Stonehenge-themed garden (top picture) on the Terasem Island in Second Life. The meeting will be recorded and the video will be available online.
This will not be an introductory talk but a discussion among experts and informed participants. Please see the reading list below if you are not informed. If you want to participate, you are cordially invited.
The meeting will take place on Sunday, March 25, at 3–5pm New York time. Please check the time if you are in another timezone, and don’t forget that some regions are on daylight time.

OK, Second Life is old tech and not as popular as it was 10 years ago, but new sexy, high-performance Virtual Reality platforms like Philip Rosedale’s High Fidelity are coming up fast, so consider this as a warm-up exercise and stay tuned for updates. I plan to to start a Virtual Turing Church in High Fidelity later this year.
