I’ll attend TransVision 2019 in London, July 6–7, and give a talk titled “More things in heaven and earth, Gods by any other name.”

The title: Shakespeare, of course:

“There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy” (Hamlet)

“A rose by any other name would smell as sweet” (Romeo and Juliet)

Those who are familiar with my work will find the title self-explanatory. For the rest:

We live in a vast and mysterious universe, and contemporary science is not yet in touch with ultimate reality. Perhaps future science will unveil fundamental reality, or perhaps (more likely in my opinion) science will keep advancing and uncover new aspects of physical reality in an infinitely deep fractal zoom, without ever reaching the bedrock.

Contemporary science lends plausibility to the idea that bottom layers of physical reality, perhaps sub-quantum fields, have the potential to be alive and self-aware in some sense, free-willed, superintelligent, and able to control spacetime.

This opens the door to a transhumanist vision on steroids: Our descendants will learn how to control and inhabit the sub-quantum layers of physical reality, achieving God-like knowledge and power.

In the words of the Master, Sir Arthur C. Clarke: “In their ceaseless experimenting, they had learned to store knowledge in the structure of space itself, and to preserve their thoughts for eternity in frozen lattices of light. They could become creatures of radiation, free at last from the tyranny of matter. Now they were lords of the galaxy, and beyond the reach of time. They could rove at will among the stars, and sink like a subtle mist through the very interstices of space.”

Future humanity will join the community of God-like civilizations in the universe (Gods by any other name), and realize most of the promises of traditional religions, including the resurrection of the dead.

TransVision 2019 is organized by Humanity+ and London Futurists, and will take place on Sat 6th and Sun 7th July, in Birkbeck College in central London. I have given two London Futurists talks at Birkbeck College, and I look forward to being back, and seeing you there!

[*] My book “Tales of the Turing Church: Hacking religion, enlightening science, awakening technology” is available for readers to buy on Amazon (Kindle and paperback editions).

Please buy my book, and/or donate to support other Turing Church projects.
